"The right thing" is a song I recorded in a lot of different versions. It was written in 1986 and I think from its Piano pattern you really can tell it was written by a drummer, which I was back then.
lyrics
THE RIGHT THING
Sometimes silence seems to tell me something anyway
Sometimes I fight 'gainst real big forces, where there is only me.
Dawn's red light in a violet fog reflected in the water
of the cold, dark sea is awakening me.
And so I get up on my feet and I start to walk
slowly down to the surf to see if it's rising.
Chorus
Because there's always something that you can't prevent.
Sometimes things happen you can't understand.
Things, noone can influence nor change or do end.
So just follow your heart's call and hope
you do the right thing anyway.
Wind gets stronger and the tide is rising
Seagulls scream unusually hoarse, so full of force.
And me, stepping right into the muddy cold water,
'til it reaches my eyes I still do look for you.
Chorus
Bridge
Anyway I am still wondering about little hints
but I*m not sure 'bout what they mean to me.
Sometimes silence seems to tell me something anyway
Sometimes I fight 'gainst real big forces,
where there is only me
- Solo Stef -
Chorus
There's always something that you can't pretend.
Sometimes things happen noone can understand.
Things, noone can influence nore change or do end.
So just follow your heart's call and hope
you do the right thing anyway.
Sometimes silence seems to tell me something anyway
And I feel, as if I fell down, or drowned in the sea
.. drowning in the sea.
